Meet Mollie Tisdel, a teenage girl from small-town Virginia whose ordinary life suddenly becomes quite extraordinary, in the new sci-fi fantasy thriller from Joshua D. Easterly, Within the Element ( published by AuthorHouse).
After the death of Mollie's father, she and her mother fall into a rut, carrying on with their lives on a day-to-day basis. As her mother drinks the days away, Mollie supports herself working at a gas station in tiny Polka, Va.
"She isn't satisfied with the life she is leading and is convinced that she has a purpose in life besides selling beer and smokes to drunks and cheaters that wander in the store," Easterly explains.
That's when a sudden turn of events changes everything Mollie has ever known, landing her in a position she never dreamed of, "one where her life is at stake and only she can save the world from the crumbling disasters that are destroying city after city and unraveling society as you know it."
Mollie embarks on an epic journey to defeat the force of evil that has run rampant for so long, but she will never make it through unless she first learns to trust herself. In Within the Element,Easterly crafts a fresh, captivating, suspense-filled story about pushing oneself to the limits and performing selfless deeds for the greater good of humanity.
Easterly invites readers to "find your imagination and journey through the realm of your mind to discover the creativity that you truly possess."
Joshua D. Easterly lives in Naples, Fla., with his partner. He has had a lifelong passion for writing, authoring many poems and short stories prior to Within the Element, his first book.

To Be
To be pure is to be otherworldly,
To be smart is to only conceive what you see around you,
To be different is hard enough,
To be alike is almost impossible,
To see others and wish to be like them,
To learn that others are not what you thought they were then,
To see yourself as a whole with everything,
To live life truly free,
To be as we were meant to be,
At on with ourselves and everything else. |

A look into Chapter 12 |

"Walking up the many stairs of her pyramidal castle was her son Empra, ruler of the Spiral Winds, but without the girl. Anger surged throughout her as she pounded her fist against the window and it cracked and crumbled into dust. Her castle was made out of thousands of souls formed into perfect stones; she reveled in the glory of walking on them, crushing them with each of her hollow steps.
She spit on the ground in disgust, and her saliva burned a hole through the souls that held her building together. She was the master of destruction, and her fury was just beginning, when Empra came into her dwelling. He looked up at her in fear; her appearance was that of a crowned mantis especially in her face. She was tall and slender with arms and legs that were equal in length, her body clothed in a dirt brown armor that appeared to be attached to her as it bent with her every move, like the exoskeleton insects of earth."
